Syttende Mai celebration in Wanamingo is on May 19
WANAMINGO - The annual Syttende Mai celebration in Wanamingo is planned for May 19. As a warm-up for the Norwegian festival, the public search for the troll doll will begin on Friday, May 18. The first clue will be posted near the historic log cabin at 4 p.m. Clues will be posted until the troll is found.

New fire protection agreement needed before decision is made on pumper truck
ZUMBROTA - The Zumbrota Fire Board met Wednesday, May 9 at the Zumbrota Firehall. It was decided that the purchase of a new pumper truck will be tabled until a new fire protection agreement is established between the City of Zumbrota and the four other cooperative townships (Minneola, Pine Island, Roscoe, and Zumbrota). Belle Creek Township withdrew as a member of the joint powers agreement at the previous meeting.

KW School Board and teachers reach contract agreement
KENYON - After months of negotiations a contract agreement between the Kenyon-Wanamingo School Board and teachers association has been reached. Superintendent Jeff Evert presented an overview of that settlement at the April 23 board meeting.

Hold placed on geothermal, wind and solar energy projects in Goodhue
GOODHUE - At the regular Goodhue City Council meeting on May 9, the council voted to put a moratorium on the building of further geothermal projects, wind-driven generators, and solar panel installations until they can come together on a ordinance regulating how they might affect a neighborhood. This moratorium will not affect any project currently under construction.
