Fifth annual Pine Island Antique Tractor Drive held
Tractors line the shoulder of County Road 30 in Wanamingo near Riverside Park on Sunday, August 22. The group began their morning in Pine Island before parading to Wanamingo. After having lunch and socializing in Riverside Park, the rolled on back to Pine Island. 
PINE ISLAND - A foggy start to the day didn't stop tractor enthusiasts from making their 34-mile round trip on Sunday, August 22. One hundred and twenty-four tractors of all varieties paraded down Main Street in Pine Island for the fifth annual Antique Tractor Drive sponsored by the Pine Island Lions.

Taher, Inc. hires Leonard as new food service director for ZM Schools
ZUMBROTA - Valerie Leonard has been hired as the new food service director for Zumbrota-Mazeppa schools. She is originally from Blooming Prairie. She and her husband, Darrel, who is the Minnesota Energy Resources "gas man" in town, have lived in Zumbrota for 13 years.

St. Francis of Morris requests city support to fund demolition of old hospital building
ZUMBROTA - On August 13, the city received a letter from Scott Jackson, Director of Projects and Community Services at St. Francis Health Services of Morris. The letter explained that St. Francis wished to develop the property where the old Zumbrota Hospital is currently standing empty and unused.

Leather and Pipes Rally Against Cancer rides again
PINE ISLAND - The third annual Mike Bell Leather and Pipes Rally against Cancer ride took place on Saturday August 21. The benefit began with registration in Pine Island from 9-11 a.m., after which the motorcycle riders traveled about 140 miles before returning to the Pine Island Sports Bar.

Goodhue native starts alarm and lock company in Zumbrota
ZUMBROTA -Chris Conrad of Zumbrota, along with Andrew Glende of Faribault and Brian Diercks of Red Wing, are co-owners of Assured Alarm and Lock, Inc. The new business opened on April 20. All three men worked for a company that did similar work, and they decided to go into business for themselves.
