Reverend Andrew Krause celebrates 25 years of ministry

Reverend Andrew Krause

GOODHUE - Reverend Andrew H. Krause of Grace and St. John's Lutheran Churches is celebrating 25 years of ministry this month. Everyone is welcome to show their appreciation by attending his church services on Sunday, July 22. Times are 8:30 a.m. at St John's and at 10 a.m. at Grace. A luncheon will follow at the Goodhue Lions Community Center at 11 a.m.

Krause grew up in Mequon, Wisconsin, which is just north of Milwaukee on the shores of Lake Michigan. This is where he developed his life-long love of fishing. On July 14, 1987, Krause was ordained into the ministry of God, graduating from the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod Church in Mequon, Wisconsin. He was a newlywed at the time, having married Gayle a month earlier. He accepted his first call to a dual parish serving St Paul's Lutheran in Christ Evangelical in Crandon and Hiles, Wisconsin, respectively. The couple spent four years there before moving to Rockford, Minnesota, where Krause served the Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church for ten years. In 2001, Rev. Krause accepted the call to another dual parish, that of Grace and St. John's of rural Goodhue.

Gayle is a secretary with Central Research Laboratories. The Krause family has grown over the years to include three sons, Nathaniel, Justin, and Corey; and one daughter, Nicole.

In his free time Krause enjoys reading and watching the Green Bay Packers. Lately he has been taking a class over the internet named "Grace in Action." He also has be mentored and is a mentor using "Webinary." This is a way to keep current and up-to-date with other pastors.

There are approximately 570 members of the Grace and St. John's parishes plus the St John's school. In the first 25 years of his ministry, Rev. Krause has baptized 330 babies, performed 150 weddings, confirmed 286 young people, presided over 152 funerals, and has written and memorized over 2,000 sermons. A self-described "big kid with a big heart," Krause said he enjoys working with and being around people. Is there a better way for a man of God to be?
